Food Animal/Equine Associate Veterinarian

Seeking a veterinarian for our four-doctor large animal ambulatory practice. We are looking for a practice building individual, with good technical skills, and a team mind set. We have a dairy and beef base with a good sized, growing equine and small ruminant clientele. Preventive health is a primary focus. Benefit package includes medical insurance, PTO, continuing educations tuition, 401K, association dues, liability insurance, and life insurance. $1000.00 sign on bonus. Salary is negotiable. We provide mileage reimbursement for self-owned trucks, all equipment needed to practice and a Bowie box. We are fully computerized with mobile laptops. We have an excellent support staff of veterinary technicians, receptionists, a full-time practice manager and inventory manager to assist with daily clinic responsibilities. We strive to provide high quality veterinary medicine to our clientele in an enjoyable, rural workplace environment. Our mixed animal clinics are located in east central Minnesota (Foley & Milaca) with close access to recreational and cultural activities in the St. Cloud, Mille Lacs Lake, and Twin Cities area with excellent schools.

Certified Veterinary Technician

Mille Lacs Veterinary Clinic is seeking applicants for a full time CVT position working between our Milaca & Foley clinic locations. We are a busy, well established practice that emphasizes excellence in patient care, client education and customer service using a team approach. The successful candidate must be a friendly, motivated individual who is dedicated to providing excellent care as a single member of a larger team. We provide a great work environment and have excellent clients. This position works 4 days per week with some Saturdays. Benefits include vacation and holiday pay, retirement, paid time off for CE, a CE stipend, MAVT membership, employee pet discounts and health insurance. Customer Service Representative

A receptionist focuses on client service and communication. He or she is the first and last contact with the hospital and key to creating first and lasting impressions. The receptionist must have exceptional client service and communication skills, computer literacy, handle payment and financial issues, ability to multi-task, friendly attitude and confidence to deal with stressful situations. Receptionists support veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers and kennel staff in daily patient and client care. They communicate with clients in person and by phone and e-mail.

Client Relations Duties:

  • Greet clients and pets by name.
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system.
  • *Answer doctors cell phone calls and texts in a timely manner.*
  • Minimize hold time of callers on the phone system.
  • Screen and route calls to appropriate staff.
  • *Continually stay aware of location of doctors in the field and of changes in the scheduler.*
  • *Make every effort to schedule calls in the field so as to minimize doctors travel time and travel distiance.*
  • *Have a basic understanding of the geography of the practice area of each clinic.*
  • *Alert doctors to call backs regularly that are waiting, particularly time sensitive messages.*
  • Provide phone shoppers with descriptions of services first, price last.
  • Receive and transmit faxes and scanned documents.
  • Take and deliver messages promptly to appropriate staff, pulling medical records of patients so staff can properly document information.
  • Relay details discussed during client conversations including the date, time, and key points of the discussion to the technicians and or doctor.
  • Ensure the reception area and exam rooms have current reading materials, activities for children (coloring books, crayons, and toys) and are clean and odor free.
  • Check medical and computer records for accurate client addresses, phone numbers and e-mails at every client contact.
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines.
  • *Accurately maintain the scheduler in regards to regular herd programs, on call doctors, doctors vacations and time off.*
  • Make surgery and appointment confirmations calls.
  • Answer clients’ questions about veterinary services and products and provide knowledgeable advice about basic wellness and prevention.
  • *Provide accurate estimates for large animal procedures.*
  • Always refer to the veterinarian as doctor. Do not use the doctor’s first name only in the presence of clients.
  • Prepare consent forms and be able to discuss the hospital’s financial policies with clients
  • Sell retail items and pet food.
  • Providing information to clients on, flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, shampoos, home dental products and large animal OTC, vaccines, and medicines at applicable clinic.
  • Maintain a clean, neat reception area and front desk.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with other team members and departments.
  • Ensure client restrooms are stocked and clean.
  • *Coveralls, towels, and other laundry are cleaned and ready for use.*
  • *Unpacking and checking in drugs and supplies delivered to the Milaca clinic.*
  • *Labeling large animal inventory and stocking the shelves and cooler in the reception area.*

Financial Duties:

  • Enter accurate charges.
  • Collect payment when services are rendered, including making change for cash payments, processing credit cards and getting proper ID for checks.
  • Verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts (where applicable).
  • Print or record the end of day financial balances, ensuring they are accurate.
  • Know fees for routine services.
  • Balance cash drawer at end of day/shift.
  • Write up payment plans when authorized by doctor or office manager.
  • Collect past due payments and past due payment plans.

Administrative Duties:

  • Backup computer records according to practice’s operating procedures.
  • Help clients schedule appointments when referred to a specialist, including directions, records and test results to bring and follow-up status of patient after specialty care.
  • Prepare forms such as new client registration, medical records, health and vaccination certificates, lab results and euthanasia forms.
  • Schedule rechecks and enter callbacks, prepare a daily callback list, include the client charts and give to appropriate doctor.
  • Admit/discharge or delegate admission and discharge of patients for, surgery, dentistry, or other procedures to appropriate hospital staff.
  • Retrieve, update and file patient medical records.
  • Clean up after pets’ accidents in the reception area, exam rooms and exterior sidewalks and parking lot.
  • Water and maintain plants in waiting and exam rooms.
  • Attend staff and department meetings.
  • Collect specimens that clients bring in for lab analysis, label and take to the lab area. Note the date and time of specimen collection for the technicians and follow up to ensure they are completed and the client is notified of the results. Place corresponding medical file in appropriate area.

Client Education & Marketing Duties:

  • Sell and promote retail items.
  • Mail thank-you, sympathy and other cards as needed.
  • Promote practice protocols on wellness and prevention.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service
